ABSTRACT

Dr. Eric Liou

Dr. Eric Liou is an associate professor and the chairman of the Faculty of Dentistry, Chang Gung Memorial Hospital & Chang Gung University, and Taipei, Taiwan. He is also a visiting professor in the Department of Orthodontics, Showa University, and Tokyo, Japan. For the profession affiliations, Dr. Lieu is currently immediate past president of the Taiwan association of Orthodontists, and immediate past president of the World Implant Orthodontic Association. He also is the ECM of Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS) and the editor of the APOS Trends in Orthodontics. His main research interests are distraction orthogenesis, TADs, orthodontic tooth movement, platelet rich plasma, and bone physiology. Dr. Lieu has numerous publications and presentations, specially on the topics of accelerated orthodontic tooth movement, maxillary orthopedic protraction, surgery first accelerated orthognathic surgery, and TADs.

Dr. Somchai Satravaha

Clinical Associate Prof. Dr. Somchai Satravaha is a diplomat, Thai Board of Orthodontics and a clinical associate professor at Mahidol University, Bangkok Thailand. She received D.D.S. (Hons) from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok Thailand. She later earned Zahnärztin für Kieferorthopädie from Baden-Württemberg, Germany and Dr.med.dent. (Magna cum Laude) from Munich, Germany. She was an executive committee member of the World Federation of Orthodontists from 2005-2015, a past president of Thai Association of Orthodontists, past president of the Thai Orthodontic Foundation and a past president of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society. She received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Thai Association of Orthodontists in 2013 and was a Recipient of 2014 Outstanding Alumni Award from Chulalongkorn University Dent Alumni Association. She is an honorary member of Association of Philippine Orthodontists, of Indian Orthodontic Society, of Ho Chi Minh City Association of Orthodontists and an honorary fellow of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society (APOS). At present, she is a president of the Advisory Board of the Thai Association of Orthodontists and a president of the Thai Association of Orthodontists’ Mobile Orthodontic Unit for Cleft Lip/Palate Patients.

Dr. Bryce Lee

Dr. Bryce Lee earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery from National University of Singapore in 1989 and as an undergraduate, he was awarded the NUS Dental Society Silver Jubilee Award in 1988 for being the best all-round dental student of that year. Upon graduation, he spent 2 years as a Dental Officer in the Singapore Armed Forces. During which time, he was also Staff Officer to the Head, Dental Branch. He then worked with the Ministry of Health as a Dental Officer.

While undergoing specialist training, Dr. Lee was appointed as an Orthodontic Registrar at Guy's Hospital, London and also concurrently at Kingston Hospital in Surrey, UK. He was awarded Master of Science in Orthodontics (London) in 1995 and obtained his Membership in Orthodontics in both Royal Colleges of Surgeons, England and Edinburgh, in 1996. Dr. Lee is also a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine (Orthodontics) Singapore. Dr. Lee is a registered dental specialist in Orthodontics and joined Atria-City Dental Group in 1996 and became a partner in the group in 1997.

Dr. Lee is contributes actively to the dental and orthodontic community in Singapore and internationally. He was the former chair of the Joint Committee for Dental Specialist Accreditation (JCDSA) which helps to oversea the accreditation of all dental specialists in Singapore. He is now a member of the Singapore Dental Specialist Accreditation Board (DSAB). He also teaches part-time in the Faculty of Dentistry, NUS. Dr. Lee has served as President of the Association of Orthodontists (Singapore), and is currently the President of the Asian Pacific Orthodontic Society, a Council member of the World Federation of Orthodontists and President of the College of Dental Surgeons in the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.

His interests in orthodontics lie in growth modification in children and adult orthodontics as well as bone biology with relationship to tooth movement.

Dr. Narayan Gandedkar

Dr Narayan Gandedkar completed ‘Masters’ in Orthodontics with ‘Gold medal’ from ‘Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences’, ‘SDM College of Dental Sciences and Hospital’, Dharwad, and pursued a fellowship in craniofacial orthodontics from prestigious ‘Chang Gung Memorial University and Hospital, Taiwan’. In addition to his appointment as Senior Dental Officer/ Clinical Researcher, KK Women's and Children's Hospital, Singapore, he also serves as Honorary Secretary for the ‘Cleft Lip and Palate Association of Singapore’, and Principal Investigator for Singapore Health Foundation (SHF) funded research.

He has published over thirty five international papers, and is also a reviewer of over fourteen international journals, including Angle Orthodontist, World Journal of Orthodontics, Orthodontic Waves (Japanese Orthodontic Society), Journal of Applied Biomaterials & Functional Materials (Italian Society for Biomaterials ), Scanning: The Journal of Scanning Microscopies (Wichtig publishing).

He has written an international book chapter for Mosby, Elsevier, edited by M. Papadopoulos (Aristotle University, Greece). His clinical research interests include cleft and craniofacial orthodontics, craniofacial syndromes, Surgery-First orthognathic approach, nasoalveolar molding therapy for infant orthopaedics, and biomaterials.
